Have a happy Easter break

There will be a practise at Waikaraka Speedway, for club members, Easter Saturday afternoon. Weather permitting.

The next meeting will be April 2nd. The feature will be the crazy Mad Butcher Caravan Derby. Support classes will be Stockcars, Super Stocks, T.Q's, Saloons, Streetstocks .

The sections scheduled to race at the remaining meetings are-

Meeting 28, April 9th Midgets (tbc), Super Stocks, Modifieds, Saloons, MiniStox, Streetstocks, Saloons, Stockcars.

Meeting 29, April 16th John Webster Memorial, Super Stocks, Super Saloons, Modifieds, Stockcars, T.Q's, Midgets, Sidecars (tbc)

Meeting 30 April 23rd, private promotion. JunkYard Wars, a Derby with a difference. Also the Auckland ATV Champs.

As the season starts to run down, a plea goes out for volunteers to help run meetings at Waikaraka Speedway next season. Volunteers are needed in many positions. With the possibility of another 30 meeting season in the offering, back-ups to existing volunteers will help ease the stress of running a weekly show.

The existing volunteers are all Speedway fans who should be able to take a night off to visit other tracks (as the competitors are able) or attend a work function or family borefest. If a few more people were on call such nights off would be possible.

Some positions require qualifications and skills, i.e. Crash Crew personal. Some jobs just skills, i.e. section co-ordinators that need people skills, the patience of Job, and the ability to multi-task. New SNZ officials will need to undertake some training. Volunteers who want to be track photographers don't need skills or training just a decent camera and flash, the web-master position requires nothing but enthusiasm. A volunteer with an interest in journalism is also urgently required for next season. There is a new water truck being prepped for next season which will make the new track waterman's job easier.

Fans who want to extend their interest in Speedway to the next level are encouraged to make contact either by e-mail or talking to one of the officials at the Speedway over the next few meetings.
