This Saturday night at Waikaraka Speedway will be the Auckland Stockcar
Championship, the Auckland Solo Championship and will feature a teams race
between teams of four Mini Sprints representing Auckland, Kihikihi, Rotorua
Support classes will be Stockcars, Limited Salons and ATVs. The Auckland
Stockcar Championship is an open title and visiting Standard Stockcar
drivers from neighbouring tracks are expected. The Solo champs however are
an invitation only Championship as the races will be on the BullRing that
has proved difficult to ride around without previous practise. Nathan Murray
will be trying to wrest his 10th Auckland Championship on the night.
Teams Nationals Update.
This meeting is scheduled for two days Friday 19th March and Saturday 20th
Friday night will be a Rocking and Racing night. There will be a band
playing pre meeting. There will be 8 Super Stockcar teams races, and support
classes booked for the night are Limited Saloons, Mini Sprints and
Modifieds. It was planned that Solos would race on the night but as the
BullRing will have a temporary stage in the middle those plans have been
Saturday night will feature the run-offs to decide the Teams Nationals.
There will be four Super Stock teams races. The final race of the night is
the winner take all $3,000.00 Super Stock feature which in 2004 has a bonus
of $500.00 as The Best Entertainers Award. The $500.00 will be paid to the
driver who elicits the most cheers from the crowd at the end of the race.
Support classes for the 20th March will be Super Saloons, Stockcars,
Streetstocks and if a quality field of sidecars can be confirmed the Mark
Goodyer Memorial will be raced.
