ASSCC had it's AGM on Wednesday 27th June and an interesting meeting it was, with a reasonably good support of members (90) plus) and observers.
The Presidents report was short and just commented on how good the racing had been this year, assisted by a smooth and consistent track surface and the facility looking the best for many years.
Then onto the financial report which was the main focus of everybody's attention. However, due to the turmoil at the beginning of the period with resignations co-opting on and struggling to fill the committee of 8 the casual attitude of the 'stand in' committee meant that the state of the financials was a draft only due to lack of records kept, and many questions couldn't be answered.
On a brighter note was the life membership given to Dave Tennant, a long time racer and supporter of ASSCC - Congratulations Dave - well deserved.
With a resolution being passed accept nominations from the floor for the election of officers, a motion was put to the member by Frank Irvine and passed to halt the meeting until next Wednesday 2nd July 2003 so those standing could do some homework with the intention of putting a workable committee together that could service the club's debt, also knowing that a private promotion was on the cards. The motion was passed.
Wednesday 2nd July 2003.
A continuation of the meeting which started with a proposal by Frank Irvine on as promoter of Waikaraka Park. After much discussion a motion was passed to accept his proposal and so onto the election of officers.
Presidents standing were G Hinsley, C Champion, C Chesnutt. G Hinsley stood down and C Champion withdrew the new President being C Chesnutt. Vice Presidents Dayne Wright and Wayne Midwinter. D Wright won on a 2-vote margin. Secretary Annette Riley and Ngaire Nowell - Annette won comfortably. Treasurer Lyn Yates only nomination and due to time commitments was reluctant to stay on but with good member support, did.
Four committee members were elected from 6 nominations of Chris Miller, Bob Goodall, Mark Wearing, Paul Vasey, Wayne Midwinter and Scott Lane. Wayne and Mark were unlucky and so congrats to all of those who made the committee and now it's down to serious fundraising and racing.
