UPDATE ON WEATHER IN AUCKLAND: SAT 25th Weather Update: The Weather in Auckland is Fine and nice big White Clouds with NO Rain.
In the words of Frank Irvine "Its good racing weather"
This weekend, Saturday February 25, 2006, sees a double header at Waikaraka Park. This Saturday sees the final round of the $15,000.00 Super Stock series taking place. This series has attracted good fields of Super Stocks in the previous two rounds, so the third and final round should be no exception. Round one attracted 22 Superstocks, and Round two attracted 23 Superstocks.
515R Stan Hickey from Rotorua currently leads the series on 49 points, 9 points ahead of Tauranga-based, Rotorua registered, 119R Kerry Remnant, who is on 35 points. Next on points is 51R, Rodney Wood on 28 points. Rodney has recently purchased a sprintcar, and the Superstock is currently up for sale! Will Rodney be here for the final round of the Series? Watch this space! - Currently awaiting confirmation, and this preview will be modified accordingly once the information has been received.
Update: It is approaching 2pm in the City of Sails as this blurb is being written. Cloudy, with sun here in Auckland, with warm weather and the cicadas are out. Looking good for tonight, let's go racing! I have been advised by the promoter this morning, that some of the drivers expected to be there tonight are: Stan Hickey 515R, Kerry Remnant 119R, Kris Allen 86H, Wayne Lucey 816H, Scott Redfern 96H, Kyle Fraser 92R.
A few other drivers who have been taking part in the series include 17V Rick Campbell, 24H Rachel Burkhart/Warren Burkhart, 816H Wayne Lucey, 135R Scott Hewson, to name a few, as well as locals 73A Bryce Marx, 414A Warwick Ansty, 11A Gary Ellis, 75A Dave Tennant, 36a Ricky Mitchell and 8A Graham Goldsmith. Will these guys all be back to contest the final round? Either way, expect some fast and spectacular racing as the Superstock drivers battle it out for the Final round of the $15,000.00 Series!
The other drawcard on the programme is the Gold Coast Travel Series, for the Salooncars (Super Saloons had their Series on Saturday February 18, 2006). The format is the same as the Super Saloons Gold Coast travel - there will be trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd, and the car that makes the most passes will receive airfares and accommodation vouchers for two people to the Gold Coast!!
Also supporting the programme this Saturday night will be Stockcars, Streetstocks and Modifieds.
Coming up on March 4th, is the Auckland Stockcar Champs, and the Support Classes will be Super Saloons, Mini Sprints and Ministox. More information will be available about this meeting in due course.
The Dirt Cup page has been updated with some information about the Modified Dirt Cup which is taking place on March 17 & 18, 2006. The NZ Superstocks page has also been updated with points charts.
